NY Yankees to face Philadelphia Phillies in spring training World Series rematch


TAMPA, Fla. -- A few quick notes as the Yankees board the buses to Clearwater, Fla., to face the Philadelphia Phillies, the first of 16 Grapefruit League road games:

Pitcher Joba Chamberlain's status for Friday is still uncertain. Yankees manager Joe Girardi said on Thursday morning that he hadn't yet checked in with Chamberlain, who is getting over flu-like symptoms.

Infielder Kevin Russo will be sidelined another day with flu-like symptoms.

***
Pitcher Royce Ring left camp to be with his wife, who went into labor.
