Power generation tariff rises by Rs 1.02 per unit

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased the cost of electricity generation by Rs 1.02 per unit, calling it a “fuel cost adjustment”, a private TV news channel reported on Saturday. NEPRA has determined the adjustment in fuel cost component on account of fuel price variation for January 2010 for ex-WAPDA distribution companies, which has resulted in a surge in power tariffs. According to a NEPRA notification, consumers will have to pay Rs 0.62 more than the previous adjustment of Rs 0.40.
