England move up to eighth in Fifa world rankings


England have moved up one place to eighth in the latest Fifa world rankings.

Fabio Capello's team, who play Egypt in a friendly at Wembley tonight, have swapped places with Argentina, while Germany have moved up to fifth.

Greece, the 2004 European champions, have moved back into the top ten for the first time since June 2008. Egypt, the African Cup of Nations holders, have dropped seven places to 17th. Spain remain in first place above Brazil and Holland.

Ireland have dropped two places to 39th with Northern Ireland up one place to 40th. Scotland also move up one place to 45th but Wales remain 76th.
