Wall St extends gains in broad run-up


NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks extended gains on Monday, with the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq up about 1 percent, after a spurt of takeover news and expectations that debt-ridden Greece may get European Union aid.

Gains were broad-based, with technology, consumer discretionaries and utilities as the standout sectors

The Dow Jones industrial average was up 80.11 points, or 0.78 percent, at 10,405.37. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index added 10.43 points, or 0.94 percent, at 1,114.92. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 31.15 points, or 1.39 percent, at 2,269.41.
