Drinking Coffee Does Not Raise Risk of Abnormal Heart Rhythms

Coffee may reduce the risk of experiencing an abnormal heart rhythm, say researchers of a new study.

This study finding is great news for those who can not seem to get out the door in the morning without their daily fix.

The researchers at the Kaiser Permanente Medical Care Program in California, say that drinking coffee in moderation may actually reduce your risk of developing an abnormal heart rhythm.

Researchers surveyed people to find out how much coffee they drank, and then compared hospital data pertaining to those same people.

Those who said they drank four or more cups of coffee daily were 18% less likely to experience abnormal heart rhythsm

“This study does not mean that people should drink coffee to prevent rhythm problems,” said lead author Dr. Arthur Klatsky. “It supports the idea that people who are at risk for rhythm problems or who have rhythm problems do not need to abstain from coffee.”
